Backpackers Randi and Michael are two friends from NYC who decided to embark on a multi-year journey throughout Central America, Europe, and Asia in 2014. Now, they live out of their backpacks and travel on a budget full time.
It’s a story you’ve heard a million times. Boy meets girl on dating website OkCupid.
They go out a few times. Decide a romantic relationship isn’t in the cards. Jump out of an airplane together. Pack their bags, quit their jobs, and board a flight to Mexico. Start a website, travel together for over two years, build a stronger friendship than ever expected.
The rest is history…in the making.
The Backpackers:
Michael was born in Poland and raised in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
He started backpacking five years ago, and has thought of doing little else since. Once an employee of the New York Post, and then a LMT specializing in physical rehabilitation, Michael is now a full-time nomad. He’s spent many months exploring over 40 countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. One day he hopes to visit Saturn…but only if he can bring his backpack.
Randi is a wander, has moved over 20 times in her life, and loves the freedom that comes along with living out of her suitcase. Randi is a vegan, loves to cook, is happiest when lying on a beach in a foreign country, and her favorite ice cream flavor is salted caramel. Randi's written work has been featured in publications like Marie Claire, xoJane, and A Women’s Thing. She has a background in marketing, culinary arts, and is a Certified Health Coach.
Something is quite inspiring about these backpackers;
they created Just a Pack to inspire others to travel long-term and give them the information and tools to do so no matter how big or small their budget. Just a Pack believes in responsible travel and is dedicated to promoting organizations and efforts around the globe that are committed to giving back and making a difference in their local communities.
